Sparkling Ice Kicks Off First Month of Flavorful Giving in Seattle, WA with Good Sports

Sparkling Ice and Good Sports Team up to Provide Sporting Goods to Bailey Gatzert Elementary for January Flavorful Giving Initiative

Recess just got more fun thanks to our partnership with Good Sports, a non-profit dedicated to making sports and physical activity accessible to all children, regardless of their background or financial circumstances.

On Friday, January 27th, 2023, Sparkling Ice and Good Sports teamed up for a special event at Bailey Gatzert Elementary, a school serving 430 young students in the Seattle Public School system. With limited resources, the school was in need of new sporting equipment to promote healthy habits through play at recess.

During a surprise assembly, Sparkling Ice and Good Sports unveiled over 1,000 individual pieces of sporting equipment including soccer balls, basketballs, footballs, volleyballs, frisbees, jump ropes, hula hoops, paddleball, badminton equipment, lacrosse equipment, and more. Following the assembly—and a very enthusiastic hula hoop contest—students, staff, and volunteers made their way to the playground to have some fun and test out the new gear.

“We are thrilled to contribute to the growth and development of the students at Bailey Gatzert Elementary and to shine a light on the importance of recess and physical activity during playtime,” said Nina Morrison, Senior Vice President of Community Experience at Talking Rain, the maker of Sparkling Ice. “Our donation aims to bring joy and inclusivity to the playground, encouraging students to interact and engage with each other in a fun and lighthearted environment.”

The new sporting equipment will help boost students’ physical activity during recess and improve the overall playtime experience by providing easy access to sports equipment, resulting in increased mental, emotional and physical well-being. Together, Sparkling Ice and Good Sports aim to support children reach their highest potential and are helping local students stay connected to their communities.

“Good Sports is excited to partner with Sparkling Ice and to help kick off the Flavorful Giving Campaign for the month of January,” said Melissa Harper, Co-Founder and CEO of Good Sports. “By donating brand new equipment and apparel to the students at Bailey Gatzert Elementary School, we are helping to provide opportunities for physical activity to kids who need it most.”
